Well, the news is that it is a prequel, Will Smith will return to his role as Robert Neville, and filming will start in NY this fall.

I made a news article out of it since I couldn’t find it reported anywhere else. My source is 100% reliable as they are working on the movie.

Wow. I’ve heard of taking liberties on a story based on a book, but thats just out and out throwing the book away and doing whatever you please.

what would be the point? they already showed us what happened to the world. why go into more detail about it? i think they pretty much covered everything in the first movie.

I think it would be more like a regular zombie movie and show the city being run over.. from the first movie I am guessing they would try and make it emotional.

At first I kind of agreed... what can they do with it? but look at all the George Romero movies ? People still watch them and there are twist you can throw in.

It’s doable, I suppose, but I think some movies just need to be left alone. Not everything needs a sequel/prequel.

You know what Hollywood needs to lay off of is the comic book movies lol....

Hey, as long as they do them justice, I’m fine with them. Iron Man and Hulk were excellent and I’m sure The Dark Knight will be amazing. Some of the other ones, though...

Regardless, you’d better steel yourself for the long haul, as we have movies leading up to The Avengers, The Avengers, and then, most likely, sequels galore.

I agree that Hollywood should leave comics alone, but I Am Legend was based after a vampire book done by Richard Matheson in 1954. It actually is a very good book and the movie steered pretty far away from it. I liked the movie, but much like the other Will Smith movie, I, Robot... I had to force myself to enjoy the movie for a movie, and forget that they used the name of a very good book.

Um, that covers pretty much every Stephen King book made into a movie also... Cujo and Christine were done well... but most were blah.  Anyone seen the ending of "The Mist" ?  It made my wife and I sick.. she seriously lost her appetite.
