Does PS3 play PSX games?

yes, I have been playing Space Invaders lately... up to level 56 right now.

editing my post..  I have an early PS3 which has PS2 hardware inside also.... not the PS2 emulated system like the newer ones.   I do not know if the emulated ones play PS games.
