I posted at the old forums that there may be getting new DLC/achievements for Orange Box but it turned out that the new content was heading to PC. Now it seems that may have been a bit preemptive. Well I haven’t started this game yet, so if they do add even more acheivements, I may pass unless they’re cake. I have way too much to do as it is!!
I really do hope the Valve guys manage to get things sorted out with the pricing and achievements, but it seems like an uphill battle, at least as far as pricing goes. I wouldn’t be surprised if the achievements get allowed at 0 gamerscore, otherwise it would be hard to track when one would earn the rewards for the Medic. I would be surprised i Microsoft allowed the content to be free, though.
Sadly, I think this is just another instance of how console gaming still has room to grow and why I’m considering getting a gaming PC more and more.
Evil you got 97% completion, sometimes I think you worry to much... My completion is 555 trying to get it up, but it is very hard and time consuming which lately I can only play 2-3 hours a week.

Would not surprise me if Microsft winds up making another exception (ala the 50MB size limit for arcade games, max 1000 gamerscore for retail games, etc). I mean they know people will pay money for DLC, especially if its for more achievements. I’m at 680/1000 on Orange Box now myself. Its been a blast going through so many achievements. I think it would be sweet to get even more.
The big thing is that Valve has gone on record stating that they want the content to be free and that the pricing ball is essentially in Microsoft’s court.
Given the exceptions that would need to be made for The Orange Box for the title (extending the 99 achievement limit and/or allowing more than 250 addition gamerscore points through downloadable content), I doubt Microsoft will allow the content to be free. Hopefully they would chose a reasonable price like 400 points, otherwise I don’t see how the content would sell very well, given that Team Fortress 2 for the 360 isn’t exactly the most popular of online games. 800 points would be a death sentece for the content, especially looking at the content available at the same price point for both Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.
I really hope that Microsoft does what is in the gamers’ best interests, but I will not be holding my breath on this one.
Actually, I always thought it would make since to just have Episode 3 as the 360 DLC whenever it finally comes out. Just add that as the final 250 gamerscore. Oh well, probably not going to happen.
