I am a huge MORPG player.  I’ve spent 7 yrs on Everquest and another 5 on World of Warcraft.   I recently gave up World of Warcraft to do FPS games but miss the RPGs.  Can anyone suggest any good MORPG that isn’t going to spring expansion after expansion upon me?  Or even an offline single player RPG with a great story line?

I just picked up guild wars, but the neverwinter nights series is pretty cool.

Guild Wars by far... pay for the game, and its free to play online.  The expansions are worthwhile also.  Knight, let me know when you are available as I have GW also with the first expansion.

I played a couple of hours tonight.  I have the original and the eyes of the north expansion. Level 6 woot!

Some guy tricked me into a noob mistake.  I sold a black dye for 100g to find out it was worth 6k.  Oh well.

Are there forums or something that you can research the cost of items before sale?

Yes, I found gm wiki last night that gives a lot of info on it.  I basically got ripped off for about 6k of gold on one item.

IS there a way to purchase all the expansions and the game itself in one?

not that I am aware of ... each one is actually a stand alone, which has the ability to be added on.  However, I am still new, so someone may say otherwise.

If there’s enough people playing then I’d like to get into the MMO’s with people. I can only do Guild Wars at this point because $15 a month isn’t in my budget. I’ll get it if people are playing and I’ll be available nights.

Yeah, I never felt right paying monthly for a game. Guess I just rather pop quarters in an arcade then give somone my credit card and tell them to go at it.  I just dont like being nickle and dimed by having to pay monthly and buy expansions. Guild Wars is the good alternative to an MMO and I would love to join you guys. We should definitely set up a day to just get schooled in the arena together. I love battle.net for blizzard games and to me it feels like blizzard left the concept of free online behind and became something diffferent because of it. Guild Wars almost feels like the new battle.net.
