Now that I have actually played COD4 a bit on the PC I can actually talk a little about it somewhat intelligently.
Those that keep up with the latest and greatest FPS games will certainly appreciate what the Call of Duty series brings to the gaming table. The most recent release of Call Of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare is sporting the best of the franchise in my opinion. The flexible building of custom classes gives an already intense game a little extra kick. You might think you have the perfect mix only to find that another combination trumps your weak points.
What to learn more about COD4? ... just ask ... or better yet ... get a copy and meet us in our server! The more the merrier!

Just an FYI that the COD4 server goes down on the 22nd due to the lack of interest among the community.  Hopefully down the road we can start one back up again.

how much traffic so far? 

Near zero.  If Toy and I are in playing we get regular net traffic.  At one point we were up to 15.  Once we logged out and came back half an hour later from dinner it was cleared out again.  Every time I look it up remotely no one is in there.  Krowdcontrol pops in from time to time, and I think Rawd came in as well.  Other than that I haven’t seen many others.

seems like CoD 4 is not really taking off PC wise compared to consoles.

I don’t know how busy the console servers are, but I can say that a good portion of the PC servers have traffic.  Out of 17,000 listed servers over 60% are populated at half capacity or more.  When time permits I will get anothre server up, but this time I will do a little homework on it first.

The console versions are pretty busy all the time.

The funny thing about COD4 servers is that when they are dead they stay that way.  Most people have the "empty" servers filtered out.  When you have two people in the server, like Toy and I just goofing off, within 5 minutes you start seeing people pop in.  Within an hour, most of the time, we will get 12+.  When we log off and come back later it is empty again, and we can start it all over.  Now if I could just write a "bot" program for my guy to stay logged on with ... problem solved....  lol.

For now I just found a few servers to put in favorites to go play on.  Most are not too obnoxious, but for the most part they are typical pubs.  When it gets really bad I just fire up the home server and take control. 

From a girls perspective on the CoD4.  I really enjoy it.  It’s more realistic than say CSS.  You build up your character’s stats in game unlocking options as you gain rank.  You have a choice between teams but instead of the blue uniformed good guys that stand out like a sore thumb on CSS, you actually camoflage into your surroundings.  It makes it a bit more challenging than just who can pull the trigger faster.  You also have the option of prostrate shooting, crouching and standing up.

I would strongly suggest playing the single player version first to unlock the "arcade mode and cheats" .  What exactly they meant by unlocking cheats I’ll have to do a bit more research on but thats what I unlocked upon completion of the single player normal mode.
