So what does everyone make of the Blizzard.com teaser? For those who haven’t been following, Blizzard has THIS teaser image that has changed for the past 4 days with more and more of the ice breaking away. This final time, you can faintly see a set of eyes glowing from beneath.

Now, current speculations for the big announcement they’re leading on about:

1. Wrath of the Lich King news. This can be easily shoved off because the World of Warcraft expansion has already been given a release date and a lot of the features have already been discussed. Seems like a big waste of time to tease on something that doesn’t have much more than the wait for it to come out.

2. Starcraft Universe MMO. There’s been a longtime rumor of this happening, but its doubtful since the production of Starcraft II took so many resources, I dont think they’d jump right into another Starcraft game.

3. Diablo III. This one has the biggest hope and biggest possibilities behind it. The eyes, if transposed with the Diablo II cover, match up with the picture of the skull on that. Also, Blizzard’s official answer way back when, when asked if they’d develop Diablo III was "when hell freezes over". The 4 part picture on the splash page has shown a large block of ice, and its slowly been breaking away every day. Also, there are symbols inside the ice at specific locations. The only one left is to go on top of the "hole" and if you make a line to each of them, it clearly makes a pentagram.

Thoughts?

Starcraft Ghost.

I just changed the number of the ice picture to get the previous 3... I tried 5, but of course they don’t have it up yet.

But they do now...

hmmm.. now it doesn’t look like the skull.  I think its Starcraft Ghost... I heard a rumor couple months ago that it was no longer vaporware.

I think it looks like Diablo himself. I’ve forgotten all the Baal and other Prime Evil lords in the Diablo games, but I think it looks like the actual Diablo character.

Its official..... DIABLO III!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy. =)

well.... they put it up as flash, so I’m not sure how to grab it. I knew of a plugin for firefox that used to grab flash embedded video and make a FLV file locally on your machine, but I dont know the name of it. Let me look around for it.

I found the embedded flash video grabber plugin for firefox, but Blizzard is smart. They have their FLV open in a new embedded window. The script basically takes whatever webpage you’re looking at and grabs the video from there. Since its a new embedded window that the video plays in, the script only looks at the splash page and doesn’t see any videos. I’m reading their CSS sheets right now trying to find the exact path to where their videos are stored.
