I’m playing Rogue Galaxy now.  I haven’t played too many cel-shaded games.  But I think it fits here.

One of my biggest turn-off is reading dialogue.  These old games still do that.

I actually enjoy reading the dialogue as a lot of the voice acting in games is done so poorly and/or chessy.

I’m mostly deaf, so I hope text and/or subtitles never go away. Sometimes thats the only way I can enjoy a game.

Subtitles on the otherhand, is something I like to use.  Especially when there is an option to play the original (Japanese) dialogue in games.  The voice acting is so much better.  Sometimes those English voice actos are so gosh darn awful.

I like to have the option but I don’t like to be forced to have subtitles on my screen. I like to have it so that it’s a cinematic experience so I turn them off.

After about ten hours, I put down Rogue Galaxy.  It takes a lot of grinding, and I sort of got bored with the juvenile plot.  The story wasn’t coming through fast enough for me.  Back to GameFly.

I bought that game and never got a chance to play it. As soon as I brought it home, my PS2 decided to lie down peacefully and offer itself up to Kutaragi. That was the third PS2 that died on me and I wasn’t going to buy another one.

That is odd as I have a GT3 bundled PS2 (red box) and after thousands of hours of play it works like new. I even played it 14-18 hours a day for a month and a half when I was beta testing FFXI a few years back. But then again I treat my consoles better then most people except my Xbox 360, that piece of garbage will probably be used as a door stop soon.

lol... yeah, I had a launch unit PS2 and it got the famed Disc Read Error. Then I got a replacement and it wasn’t 6 months later and it did the same thing. The third one lasted a long time and got lots of hours of play, but finally stopped reading DVD based games. It’d read blue and black disks, but not DVD based media.

I’m not going to mention my Xbox 360 because I feel I’ll taunt the Gods and they will strike it down.
