Just curious if anyone here also purchased the Wii Fit. I have played it some and it seemed to be cool. Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

My mother purchased it but neither of the room’s with Wiis (my room and my sister’s room) have been arranged to afford enough space to play it.

It is cool, and I set my goal of how much weight to lose. I think if I do it every night it would really help me to reach that goal. I actually thought yoga was going to be just stretching but turns out it is really hard.

I suppose I stand with some of the academics finding issue with the game because of it using BMI and what not. It seems nice enough, but it does seem to largely neglect muscle. I also dislike Nintendo’s advertising of it as something revolutionary to get the kids off of the couch, as DDR most certainly does that and makes it a lot more fun in the process.

There was an article I read the other day on The New York Time’s website that was more or less attacking the approach of Wii Fit and some other Wii games in general, arguing that the games that get you active without knowing it just for the fun of the game tend to be better work outs. It wasn’t a bad piece, but I can’t seem to find it at the moment.

My wife and I are thinking about getting it as an interactive scale, cant see much more use from it until a Wii fit two comes making a multiplayer work out regime with Richard Simmons bouncing on the screen.

Well it is supposed to have some 3rd parties making other software for the fit. I am not saying it is the best thing ever, infact I think I rated it an 8, just saying it is fun. I am actually learning some things from it, things that I do not want to go a buy a workout video for. I do not know about the BMI thing, I think the scale portion is right. I am mainly doing it as something for my A.D.D. butt to do.

I’m still torn on how enjoyable it may be for a skateboarding game or something similar. While I can see it being a decent method of control, I often found that a good bit of the fun in arcade games is trying to stay on the board as you move with it.

I guess we’ll just have to see if third parties try to support the device or not.

Oh I have no doubt they will make an effort to emulate the success of the game and board.

I just hope it doesn’t further pollute the system with shovelware.
