I just saw the Prince Caspian gameplay trailer, it didn’t exactly look like gameplay to me. Where was the HUD? It looked like cut scenes using the game engine. So far, my only opinion is that unless you have kids and it has to have co-op, I wouln’t even bother.
The new Prince of Persia teaser looks sweet, but again this is only a cutscene teasing on some of the story content. With the succes of their past title, I’m looking forward to see what next gen will do with the IP.
The Civilizations demo that just came out seems last gen. The gameplay is just same old formula that they’ve been using for over a decade. It’s not a bad game. I played the demo all the way through. I might even rent it. It was just like playing Civilization or Alpha Centauri years ago. Nostaligic, but nothing truly innovative.
Although I wasn’t before, with the trailer and the video diary, I got to say that I was really impressed with Day 1’s Fracture. There are interesting game mechanics, and possibly a story campaign with some surprises. I recommend to at least watch the video diary.
Another Too Human trailer is not needed. I am already sold on this title. Yes, it’s a next gen dungeon crawler, but it’s co-op, baby!! How can you go wrong with a Silicon Knights project?
The Resident Evil 5 trailer gave us a new character to the franchise. But the best news is that the IP is coming to the 360! The gameplay is very new, let’s see how this will turn out and keep our eyes open for future previews or a demo.
Last week Square Enix gave us a trailer on an up an coming RPG, this week we get two more. Square is really showing the love for the 360. One new trailer is for Star Ocean 4, but it’s onlay a teaser for next year. Who knows what this game is goiing to be like. The other trailer showed numerous, yet beautiful cutscenes for the The Last Remnant. There was some very brief gameplay footage on the combat. Like in traditional Eastern RPG fashion, it is turn based. In the past copule of years, I’ve been knocking turn based but I"ve been returning to my RPG roots this summer and have been playing some turn based. Let’s see, Infinite Undiscovery is going to be an action RPG this August, and the this winter we get the traditional RPG with The Last Remnant.
Frontlines: Fuels of War, BF: Bad Company, or ET: Quake Wars....take your pick. They are all in the same genre. All seem just as good as the other. The demo for Quake Wars is out now. There’s not much to say about it. What Quake Wars has an advantage on is the use of bots. I heard there wasn’t going be an single player, but in the demo the campaign was locked. What is the campaign? I’m curious since I do like the IP.
What’s up with boss fight in the Dark Sector demo? He just stay’s up there. I don’t know how to fight it. I can dodge his attacks all day. It looks pretty, but the contorls seem a bit awkward. The button placement is ok but I don’t care for his movements. I actually did a melee kill through the wall, so it was somewhat glithcy. I also got lost a couple of times. There are no option for objective markes. This is not a problem, but I was personally getting frustrated . It took me a while to figure out that locks can only be busted with ranged glaive attack at it’s optimum attack. I also figured out that you can retrieve weapons dropped by enemies with the glaive, that was interesting. The other time I got lost, is after the second gunfight. If you play the demo look for the locked trap door in the ground. Anyways, with all the clutter of shooters out there, what are you going to play. I personally will pass this title over. Too much to play.
The second demo for Ninja Gaiden II is probably the best demo this week. Like I said before (back in the VGA forums), the game is very much in the same genre as Devil May Cry. You really don’t need to play both, unless you can afford it. I miss the gunplay from Devil May Cry, but I must admit that this has a better melee mechanics. Heck, it’s a better engine than Devil May Cry 4. I played Conan a few months ago, and I had more fune with this demo. This demo is just too phenomenal when it comes to hacking off limbs. If you played the first demo, I think they actually improved. The flaw is the camera angles in the corners. You can control the camera angles, but your right thumb is just too busy with the attack buttons in a fight. There really wasn’t much platforming. If you fall, you won’t die, and you can’t accidently jump of walk of ledges, unless there is a safe drop point. Hayabusa Ryu is just the most awesome bad-a-s-s this week from LIVE. Even if you played the first demo, download this new demo. It is most impressive!
Could this be the last great Ninja Gaiden game? Only time will tell.
I gotta say I loved Attack of the Show’s Best of Olivia Munn. I’m a fan boy. I’m sure D-Pad would love this download as well. LOL.
The Indy demo was quite fun. But the thing is, I don’t think I’ll be playing much of the LEGO titles anymore on the 360. Since I got the Wii, I’ve been playing LEGO Star Wars Complete with the kids on that machine. Having the Wii frees up my 360 when I don’t want to play with my nieces. But if you don’t have another system, I definately recommend this title to anyone with children in their lives. Don’t know if this will be online capable, but it is co-op.
I enjoyed the new Force Unleashed promo video. Be forwarned, there are spoilers for the first mission of the game. But I don’t really think it will distract us from the story. Watch it, drool, and tease yourselves for the next chapter in the Star Wars saga. It’s no KOTOR, but I know already I’m getting this title.
I haven’t bothered with trying the prizefighter demo. Has anyone got anything to say about this title?
For anyone with Ace Combat 6, I think the ninth set of downloads are availabe. Still no new vehicles. Dang!
I tried the new NCAA Football 09 demo. It was quite humorous to play the mascot game. But there’s nothing I can really say about it. Only play if you’re a football fan.
